Our Dining Services Coordinator, Jimmy Costantino, has been with the Bertram House of Swampscott since 2014. Prior to joining our team, Jimmy honed his culinary skills as a chef at Jameson Tavern and at Azure Café in Freeport, Maine. And now, our residents are able to enjoy Jimmy’s talents, including his creative use of our unique smoker grill! Jimmy knows that quality meals depend on both the chef’s abilities and the quality of the ingredients, and this is why he sources key ingredients locally as much as possible, purchasing meat from Kinnealey Meats in Boston, and fresh seafood from Ipswich Shellfish Company. In 2014, we also began working with Marblehead's Farm Direct Co-op, and each week during the growing season we pick up a farm share of fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables. And in 2015, we also started growing some of our own vegetables and herbs on the Bertram House grounds - you can't get more local and "farm to table" than that! Our dining services team understands the impact of brain-healthy nutrition on overall brain health, and they create delicious and flavorful meals utilizing fresh herbs and spices rather than relying on added salt. Our daily menus offer two featured entrées, as well as a selection of always available items, and menus rotate on a five week schedule, ensuring plenty of variety.

"The Chef and staff prepare and serve meals that would equal any fine restaurant. The food is exceptional and the presentation is superb, and they should be commended for their ability to present such gourmet meals every day.” -- from the daughter of a Bertram House resident
